India Basin Waterfront Park Opening

The partners of the India Basin Waterfront Park project—including the Trust for Public Land, San Francisco Parks Alliance, A. Philip Randolph Institute, San Francisco Recreation and Parks, and the Bayview-Hunters Point community invite you to the opening of India Basin Waterfront Park at 900 Innes Avenue.

Join us for a vibrant celebration of the new park and the Bayview-Hunters Point community featuring live music, cultural performances, free food, historical tours, resources connecting people to programs in the project’s Equitable Development Plan, and more.

As part of the festivities, the adjacent India Basin Shoreline Park (at Hunters Point Boulevard and Hawes Street) will host Fall Fest, an annual event with a local vendor market, DJ, pumpkin patch, food, art activities, a health zone, and recreational fun for all.

A decade in the making, 900 Innes has transformed from a decaying section of shoreline into a world class park featuring a makers shop, food pavilion, viewing deck, piers, and a rehabilitated Shipwright’s Cottage.

This project is environmental justice in action, building a park that is both spectacular and crucial to the health of San Francisco’s southeast communities while emphasizing public access, social equity, waterfront recreation, resiliency to sea level rise, and habitat restoration.

Guided by San Francisco’s first Equitable Development Plan, it ensures the park benefits current Bayview-Hunters Point residents while preserving the culture and identity of the historic neighborhood. It provides a blueprint for delivering a park designed by and for the community while improving economic opportunity and environmental health for its residents.

The larger plan will combine 900 Innes with the existing India Basin Shoreline Park area, creating one grand 10-acre waterfront park that closes a critical gap in the San Francisco Bay Trail. Renovation of India Basin Shoreline Park is anticipated to begin in mid-2025 with the goal to finish by mid-2027, completing the entirety of India Basin Waterfront Park.
