Sutro Bird Walk with Golden Gate Audubon

The UCSF Mt. Sutro OSP is a 61 acre reserve owned by UCSF. A trail map can be found here https://www.sutrostewards.org/trail-map. We’ll walk about 2 miles, with gradual climbs and descents through the trails. Parts of the trails are rocky with exposed roots. Some of the year round residents like Pacific Wren and Song Sparrow have begun their spring songs, and Spring migrators are starting to arrive. UCSF has embarked on a plan to manage the ‘forest’ for greater stability and habitat diversity in the future. The Sutro Stewards have begun utilizing openings along trails for conservation planting. Heavy rain and/or especially strong wind cancels; please contact Whitney or Pat by email if the weather is doubtful.

We will meet at the Woods Lot, 100 Medical Center Way at 8:30am. Parking is available in the lot for the day. The only restrooms are at the Aldea Community Center, 155 Johnstone Way, and we will make our way over there through the trails about one hour in to the walk. If you need directions or advice on how to get there, please email us at wlgrover@gmail.com, or pjgreene@sonic.net.
