Rainwater Harvesting & Rare Plant Workshop with Sutro Stewards

Join Sutro Stewards on Saturday, June 11 for an immersive workshop exploring and learning all about their rainwater harvesting infrastructure and rare plants!

Thanks to a recent Community Challenge Grant, the group is able to host two paid staff for a 9-month long apprenticeship. As a way to celebrate and share all that they have gained during the apprenticeship, Sutro Stewards is offering a two-part workshop highlighting their work!

In part one, the Rainwater Harvesting Talk will highlight the role of native plants in green infrastructure, as well as give an overview of the types of green infrastructure utilized on Mount Sutro. In part two, the Rare Plants Talk will be a walking tour of Mount Sutro’s rare plants – giving you insight into how they monitor rare plants at Sutro Stewards. Light refreshments will be provided in between each talk.

Attendees are asked to meet in the nursery located at 476 Johnstone Drive. Head past the first yellow gate and down the driveway leading to our main gate. Limited parking is available in parking stalls with red numbers near signs marked “Aldea Visitor Parking.” Street parking is available along Clarendon Avenue and just a short walk to the nursery. Attendees are encouraged to take alternative transportation methods, if accessible.

Masks suggested for all attendees. Please come prepared to walk outdoors along the trail system.
