Tour de Trail at the Crosstown Trail (Saturday)
To celebrate three years of the Crosstown Trail, the Crosstown Trail is hosting a Tour de Trail on June 4 & 5, 2022. Join them as they explore the Trail and the urban open spaces it connects, from Candlestick Point to Lands End. They’ve even thrown in some excursions into neighboring areas.
Events on Saturday are as follows:
Saturday, 9 a.m.: Walk the Crosstown Trail North to South. Meet at the Lands End Lookout Visitor Center for a walk south on the Crosstown Trail to Candlestick Point State Recreation Area. You can go the full 17 miles or any chosen length. Leader: Karen Rhodes
Saturday, 10 a.m.: Walk the Crosstown Trail Sections 1 and 2. Meet at Sunrise Point in Candlestick Point State Recreation Area to walk the first two sections of the Crosstown Trail. We’ll visit the Visitacion Valley Greenway (includes guided tour), Glen Canyon, and the Laguna Honda Community Trails. We’ll end at the Forest Hill MUNI Metro station. Leader: Amy Kaeser
Saturday, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.: Open House at Mission Blue and the Visitacion Valley Greenway. Look for the balloons outside Mission Blue, 144 Leland. Live music, Crosstown Trail gear for sale, and guided tours of the Visitacion Valley Greenway. Clean restroom stop! Hosts: Kellie McCord, Ken McCord, Fran Martin, Jim Growden
Saturday, 1 p.m.: The Crosstown Connector. Meet at the Clarendon Trailhead on Clarendon opposite Dellbrook for a 5-mile loop walk. We follow the Bay Area Ridge Trail on its route across Twin Peaks, continue on the Crosstown Trail through the Laguna Honda Community Trails, and end with a loop on the Bay Area Ridge Trail on Mt. Sutro. Leader: Bob Siegel
