Mission Dolores Park is the lively, spacious, and always sunny cultural hub at the crossroads of two bustling neighborhoods.
Its location between the Mission and Castro neighborhoods makes Dolores Park a natural gathering place. The park is bisected by a paved path that separates the hilly south side of the park and its views from the flat and spacious north side. While a few trees dot the park, it is mostly exposed to the sun, which makes Dolores Park a popular tanning spot and a place where sunscreen is a good idea.

Named after the nearby Mission Dolores, the park sits on what was once a Jewish cemetery before being purchased by the city in 1905. Since then, the land has not only served as a park but was also used as a refugee camp for more than 1,600 displaced residents after the 1906 earthquake.
The SF Parks Alliance is a proud supporter of Dolores Park! Since 2001, SFPA has been involved not only in supporting park initiatives like improving the playground, but also has hosted outdoor movies, painted heart-shaped social distancing markers during the start of the 2020 pandemic, and much more.
