Nestled in the border between the Richmond and the Presidio sits Mountain Lake Park, a haven for dog walkers, readers, tennis players, and playground-enjoyers.
Here you’ll find a dedicated dog park, children’s playground, picnic pavilion, tennis courts, and a half basketball court. The children’s playground has undergone extensive remodeling and re-opened in 2017.
This is my favorite spot to spend a Saturday. I start by walking along a trail and then have a little picnic in the Great Meadow. –Isa
In the 1770s, Spanish soldier Juan Bautista de Anza decided that Mountain Lake would be an excellent location for a settlement and began construction on what is now the Presidio.
More recently, the Mountain Lake Enhancement Project has been established in an attempt to restore the ecology damaged by the construction of the MacArthur Tunnel.
