Even long-time SF residents may be surprised to learn that Telegraph Hill, the hilltop on which city landmark Coit Tower resides, also houses Pioneer Park.
In fact, Coit Tower is actually inside the park. While the tower is certainly the star attraction, you’d be remiss if you didn’t check out Pioneer Park’s lookout point, which offers sweeping views of the city and bay.

We all know and love Coit Tower, but did you know that the park’s second biggest attraction are parrots? Keep your eyes and ears peeled as you walk through the park and nearby neighborhood, and you might catch a glimpse of them! – Isa

Pioneer Park’s most notable attraction is certainly Coit Tower–an ornate tower built in 1933 with a donation from the late Lillie Hitchcock Coit. An avid volunteer firefighter, Liillie helped extinguish building fires in the North Beach neighborhood before the official SF fire department was established. The inside of the tower features a mural, created as part of the Roosevelt Federal Art Project, which depicts the Depression Era in San Francisco.
