Nestled on the Central Waterfront between China Basin and Candlestick Point, sits Warm Water Cove, although some locals might know it as “Tire Beach” from the collection of tires which used to reside here.
Warm Water Cove is a part of the new Blue Greenway, a network of parks and open spaces that will span from Oracle Park south to Candlestick Point. It’s one of the less frequented parks in the city and a fun one to check off the list for thorough park tourists.
This is a hidden gem in the truest sense, complete with funky mismatched picnic tables and chairs. It feels special to have a moment of quiet here. – Jake
This spot, south of Potrero Hill power plant, was previously known as the “toxic golf course” where locals would hit golf balls into the bay from the shoreline. However, since then this area has been the site of many improvements, including painting over the graffiti gallery that had developed in the area as a part of the Blue Greenway project.
This is one of many parks and open spaces that are part of the Blue Greenway, an initiative which will connect 13 miles of San Francisco’s southeast waterfront.
