Friends of Oak Woodlands began as a grassroots environmental group over 20 years ago. Today, the group is a supported organization through the SF Recreation & Park Department’s Natural Resource Division, and a Community Partner of the San Francisco Parks Alliance.
Decades ago, the space was undercared for and riddled with invasive plants. Today, the space serves as a restored habitat for birds, insects, fungus, and the beloved oak tress.
This group’s dedication and hard work led to the restoration of the Oak Woodlands Grove – much to the amazement and joy of San Francisco residents and visitors alike!
The Friends of Oak Woodlands invite you to join them for their monthly habitat restoration work parties! The group meets at the Horseshoe Courts entrance on East Conservatory Drive in Golden Gate Park, on the second Saturday of each month at 9:30AM.Other volunteer opportunities are also available!
