Our Work: Projects

India Basin Waterfront Park

San Francisco’s newest waterfront park, India Basin Waterfront Park, is one of the most significant park projects in San Francisco history. Once complete, it will combine the renovated India Basin Shoreline Park and the 900 Innes property into one grand 10-acre waterfront park, complete with a new playground, amphitheater, and more.

The project will transform this space into a 21st-century park with an emphasis on public access, social equity, resiliency, and restoration.

Timeline: To be completed summer 2026

The Project

The proposed plan combines the existing India Basin Shoreline Park area and 900 Innes property into one grand 10-acre waterfront park development that closes a critical gap in the San Francisco Bay Trail. It will be integrated parks, trails and open space system including two new public piers, a new public restroom, cookout terrace, playground, fitness station, two new basketball courts, and more! Equitable Development

The India Basin Waterfront Park Equitable Development Plan, is the culmination of nearly two years of a community-driven process to preserve the rich culture, identity, and pride within Bayview-Hunters Point, and to ensure this waterfront park will benefit current Bayview-Hunters Point residents. It provides a blueprint for delivering a park designed by and for the community while improving economic opportunity and environmental health for its residents.

Environmental Health

The first phase of the India Basin Waterfront Park Project addressed decades of pollution and environmental degradation in an area marred by heavy industrial use. From March 2021 to August 2022, Bayview’s own Rubecon Builders successfully remediated the future park site at 900 Innes, laying the foundation for a new park and supporting future restoration efforts while creating a robust wildlife habitat along the shoreline.

  • This project is a partnership between the San Francisco Recreation and Park Department, the Trust for Public Land, the San Francisco Parks Alliance, and the A. Philip Randolph Institute, in collaboration with the Bayview-Hunters Point community.
