The story of Stevenson Street reflects San Francisco’s larger past, present and future.

The 500 block of Stevenson is defined by its iconic SkyBridge — originally part of Weinstein’s Department Store, the SkyBridge has since become an architectural landmark in SoMa.

Years of community-led efforts to breathe new life into the block are now bearing fruit. With the support of the Office of Economic and Workforce Development, Zendesk, and numerous other local stakeholders, the future of this historic street looks bright.

Since 2020, a series of pop-up events have been held to bring local performers, artists and visitors back to the block. In the fall of 2021, a new lighting installation was also completed, celebrating the culture and history of the surrounding area.

The Friends of Stevenson Street are a group of neighbors and local businesses who are working together to continue this important work.
