Bloomtown

In Fall 2021, SF Parks Alliance in partnership with Building 180 brought Bloomtown to life on Union Street: a multi-layered, interactive art experience.

This installation included large-scale inflatable dahlias and never before seen murals placed on rooftops and throughout storefronts, inspiring curiosity and joy for all visitors. Bloomtown aimed to encourage the rediscovery of the street’s local merchants, restaurants and retail.

The pandemic brought unprecedented challenges to commercial corridors and local businesses across San Francisco and beyond. There had never been a better time to encourage community members to get outside, support local business, and discover the unexpected joy of a public art installation. Bloomtown aimed to do exactly that by bringing a variety of floral and artistic elements to the Union Street corridor.
