Icicle lights over the Peter Macchiarini Steps are a new art installation intended to both attract visitors to these steps at night, and increase safety for local residents traversing Broadway Ave. in North Beach.
Installed by Top of Broadway Community Benefit District and North Beach Business Association, lighting has been a priority for these organizations – North Beach Business Association led the efforts to get new colorful light fixtures have been installed on Public Utilities Commission’s (SFPUC) poles along Grant Ave. Pedestrian lighting is a unique street feature that not only promotes safety, but also beautifies a neighborhood.
