Mendell Plaza

In accordance with mandates from the San Francisco Department of Public Health, SF Parks Alliance will be suspending daily operations at Mendell Plaza. We look forward to resuming our regularly scheduled activities after that date, and hope to see you then!

Project Plan

We’ve been listening to the Bayview community to better understand what you want to see at Mendell Plaza – we’ve met with local businesses, City leaders, and community stakeholders. We found that everyone would like Mendell Plaza to be a more comfortable and safe crossroads for people.

Mendell Plaza is a transit hub, and it serves as a crossroads for kids on their way to the rec center, seniors on their way to the library, commuters on their way to work, and countless trips to local businesses. Every person who passes through Mendell Plaza wants a space that is comfortable and welcoming, and the improvements below aim to fulfill those desires that the Bayview community has expressed.

What is the Citywide Public Space Initiative?

The City of San Francisco, through the Office of Economic and Workforce Development, and in partnership with the San Francisco Parks Alliance, is piloting a new program that helps communities improve their public spaces. The program will supplement the City’s critical cleaning and safety services with regular activation, beautification projects, and community engagement.
