About

The community gardening program at Potrero began as a modest garden with four garden boxes in 2010. With the development of the Texas Street Farm in 2014, the program added a third of an acre and now includes weekly workdays, monthly classes, a monthly Kid’s Garden workshop, and front door barrel gardens.

The Potrero Community Gardening program has provided numerous benefits to the Potrero public housing community as well as to the greater neighborhood. These benefits include: increased access to and knowledge of fresh vegetables, increased community engagement, and the addition of valuable green spaces to the environment.
