Gene Suttle Plaza

In accordance with mandates from the San Francisco Department of Public Health, SF Parks Alliance will be suspending daily operations at Gene Suttle Plaza. We look forward to resuming our regularly scheduled activities after that date, and hope to see you then!

Project Plan

We’ve been listening to the Fillmore community to better understand what you want to see at Gene Suttle Plaza. Gene Suttle Plaza is a large open plaza that serves as the front door to many neighborhood businesses. It is a crossroads for people on their way to the grocery store, the Fillmore’s restaurants and stores, and community institutions.

We’ve met with local businesses, City leaders, and community stakeholders and we’ve heard that people would like Gene Suttle Plaza to be more active, such as by offering tables and chairs for people eating lunch at local businesses. So whether you’re going to the grocery store, the library, school, or a restaurant in the Fillmore, you should experience a space that is active and welcoming. The improvements below aim to fulfill those desires that the Fillmore community has expressed.

Amenities

Starting March 2019, Gene Suttle Plaza will be activated weekly with free music and more!

What is the Citywide Public Space Initiative?

The City of San Francisco, through the Office of Economic and Workforce Development, and in partnership with the San Francisco Parks Alliance, is piloting a new program that helps communities improve their public spaces. The program will supplement the City’s critical cleaning and safety services with regular activation, beautification projects, and community engagement.
